“Rudolf Nureyev, A life in Dance”, in San Francisco

6 October 2012 - 17 February 2013

SAN FRANCISCO - De Young Museum

The exhibition « Rudolf Nureyev, A life in Dance », displayed at the CNCS in 2009, has been showed again in autumn 2012 at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. The exhibition has been opened on 6th October 2012 and exhibited until 17th February 2013. Further to the exhibition « Rudolf Nureyev, A life in Dance », displayed at the Sheremetev Palace in St. Petersburg, from 10th July to 12th September 2010, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco appealed the CNCS to organize the exhibition within its display areas. The De Young Fine Arts Museums owns a textile/fashion collection from the 20th century and has a temporary exhibition space dedicated to fabrics.

The Rudolf Nureyev exhibition is displayed in a configuration closed to the one proposed by the CNCS in 2009. Giuliano Spinelli, who assisted Ezio Frigerio on the scenography of the exhibition in Moulins, has been in charge of the adaptation in San Francisco. The CNCS, together with Giuliano Spinelli, have been working since one year for the realization of this project that gathered costumes, photos, posters, movies and even a catalogue, re-published in English for this occasion.

This event allowed once again to give an international resonance to the communication about Rudolf Nureyev.
Exhibition-going: 108,900 visitors
