Michael Atmore is Editorial Director of Footwear News (FN) and Director of Brand Development for Fairchild Fashion Media (FFM). He oversees both FN and Footwearnews.com, which offer extensive coverage of footwear-industry trends, fashion designers, business executives and retailers, as well as reports and reviews of the major runway shows.
As Director of Brand Development, Mr. Atmore focuses on the extension of FFM brands, with particular attention to television, trade shows and the development of new products and initiatives.
Additionally, under his direction, FFM hosts two industry events: the annual FN Achievement Awards and the FN CEO Summit, a biennial executive conference that draws a diverse cross-section of top-level executives and industry professionals. In 2008, Mr. Atmore created the FN “Shoe Star” webisode series, a reality shoe-design competition for Fashion Institute of Technology students created to identify the next great footwear designer.
Prior to joining Fairchild and Condé Nast in 1997, Mr. Atmore was founding Editorial Director and Publisher of Footwear Plus. He has an extensive background in retail, having served as Editorial Director for a group of retail-based publications at International Thomson. He has also held top editorial positions at U.S. Business Press and Harcourt Brace.
Executive editor Neil Weilheimer is a media pro with 20 years of writing, reporting, web and management experience. He loves using all kinds of content to tell disruptive stories that engage and inform.
Weilheimer serves as top editor for FN’s most-read, most-debated list of the 100 most powerful people in footwear. Additionally, he reports enterprising stories for FN, from following one entrepreneur into the tent cities of post-earthquake Haiti to an exclusive profile of Cameron Diaz’s new shoe line.
Before joining the team in 2004, Weilheimer reported on real estate tycoons, green hotels and blind triathletes.
Executive editor Katie Abel oversees cover stories, news content and special sections for the magazine and website. In addition, she regularly writes major stories on top executives, designers and celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Nicholas Kirkwood, Giuseppe Zanotti and many others.
She also has been the lead editor on special standalone publications created by FN, including the Saks Fifth Avenue “Sexy Shoes” project and “Footloose,” a magazine produced in partnership with HSN.
Prior to joining FN, Abel worked at The Charlotte Observer, a leading daily newspaper in North Carolina’s largest city.
Eugenia Miranda Richman
Eugenia Miranda Richman serves as the digital director for FootwearNews.com. Overseeing both editorial and social media strategies for the site, Eugenia works to reach shoe fanatics and industry leaders alike.
The Argentine-Nicaraguan via Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and New York City has been in publishing for more than a decade, earning her chops at InStyle, Vogue.com, xoJane.com, and Vivala.com. As a longtime miniature shoe collector, Eugenia fits right in shaping the digital voice of a legacy fashion publication.
Jennie Bell serves as the features editor for FN, working with the magazine’s top writers and editors to develop new and insightful ways to tell the shoe industry’s most compelling stories.
She’s been in the publishing business for more than a decade and in her time at FN has overseen projects big and small, from the weekly Top 10 Lists and annual Year in Review sections to the special FN Achievement Awards issue.
Prior to joining FN, Bell served in editorial positions for a range of New York media companies, including Louise Blouin Media, VNU and AOL. She is a proud graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., and remains a Southerner in her heart of hearts.
Senior digital editor Charlie Carballo is responsible for writing, editing, assigning and planning daily content on FootwearNews.com. He is also a contributor to FN’s print magazine. As FN’s only Los Angeles-based editor, he covers events, retailers and brands on the West Coast. Additionally, he plans and covers award show content. He has previously worked at NY Post, iHeartRadio and The New York Times Regional Media Group.
Sheena Butler-Young is the business editor at FN. In addition to breaking some of the industry’s biggest business stories — including the Payless bankruptcy — she interviews top fashion executives, designers and celebrities, including Katy Perry, Christian Louboutin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Steve Madden, Isaac Mizrahi and Kevin Plank.
Prior to joining FN, Butler-Young was a writer for the Hartford Business Journal and has spent time in television production, serving as a producer for Emmy-award winning public affairs talk show “In Contact.”
Peter Verry serves as the senior athletic and outdoor editor for FN, working with the industry’s most prominent brands, retailers and influential people to create compelling content and thoughtful stories relevant to insiders and consumers alike.
He’s been in the publishing business for roughly a decade and, since joining FN in 2015, has covered timely topics and been a part of a variety of projects, which include industrywide issues, developing footwear trends and developing milestone that cover a brand’s legacy from inception to today.
Prior to joining FN, Verry served in editorial positions for New York-based media companies, including a three-year stint at Patch covering the ins and outs of a community. He is a graduate of Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
Shannon Adducci oversees fashion coverage for FN. She cultivates relationship with designers, oversees fashion shoots and travels to major fashion weeks globally. She previously held roles at Billboard and Departures in fashion and style.
Nikara Johns is the women’s editor for FN. She assists editorial director Michael Atmore on a daily basis. In addition to assisting Atmore, she contributes to FootwearNews.com, covering trending topics, entertainment, celebrities and more.
Before joining FN, Johns interned at Variety in Los Angeles for six months, writing more than 200 articles for Variety.com. She also covered many events from award shows to Hollywood movie premieres. In 2013, Johns graduated magna cum laude from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in journalism and PR.
Tapping into 30 years of experience at FN, Barbara Schneider-Levy’s role as senior editor allows her to report on a diverse range of markets. Her coverage spans the men’s, comfort, work boot, Western boot, rain boot, slipper and materials and components categories.
Having launched her career in the early 1980s when a domestic shoe industry still thrived, Barbara had the opportunity to visit many footwear factories to learn firsthand how a shoe made its journey from a designer’s sketch pad to a store’s shelf.
Although manufacturing has mostly moved offshore, the industry continues to introduce new footwear talent to an increasingly savvy fashion consumer. The industry has recently welcomed an impressive list of celebrity designers to the footwear community that include Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz and Ivanka Trump.
Heidi Pashman has served as the social media editor at FN since November 2016, overseeing the strategy and execution for all of the magazine’s platforms. She works with the editorial staff to ensure everything from events, videos, print and web stories are optimized for social media. Heidi has spearheaded social media plans for the annual FN Achievement Awards, fashion month, awards events, weekly event coverage and more.
During her career in digital media, Heidi has worked at health and fitness publications Greatist, mindbodygreen and Shape.com. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature in 2010.
Samantha McDonald is the digital news editor at FN, covering the latest trends in fashion, the retail industry and celebrity style, occasionally assisting in select video productions for the team.
Prior to joining FN, she worked in a similar role as the news editor at The Zoe Report. She has a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and studied journalism at the University of North Texas. She hails from both Dallas, Texas, and Manila, Philippines (and is quite literally a small woman in a big city).
Samantha Peters is the e-commerce editor at FN. In addition to covering the hottest deals and trends to buy online — from coveted kicks to budget-friendly heels — she helps oversee best practices for the site’s shopping vertical.
After earning her bachelors degree in journalism from Boston University in 2016, she has worked in similar writing and editing roles at publications including RealSimple.com, PopSugar, SheFinds.com and BridalGuide.com. A California native and self-proclaimed shoe addict, she can now be found swapping her flip-flops for stilettos on any given day.
